Originally given as "Neocalamites hoerensis (SCHIMPER)", based on the originals of Schimper (in Traité Paléont. Vég., 1: 283. 1 Mar 1869 as "Schizoneura hoerensis (Hising.) Schimp."). Halle explicitly excluded (l.c. p. 22, 32. 1908 ["Die Schizoneura hoerensis SCHIMPER ist sicher nicht identisch mit HISINGERS Calamites hoerensis"]) the Schimper's basionym, Calamites hoerensis Hising. (Lethaea Svecica, Supplement 2([1]): 5. 1840).
