Seeds with mucronate apex. Cuticle of outer epidermis thick. Cells of outer epidermis generally mostly short and tetragonal, rarely polygonal, often with solid papillae; near the seed apex cells elongated, each with hollow hair-like papilla; anticlinal cell walls straight, rarely slightly undulate. Stomata numerous, randomly scattered, oriented mostly along the seed axis, some of subsidiary cells with solid papillae. Resin bodies large and long. Nucellar cells elongated, tetragonal, with acute corners. Megaspore membrane comprising a patterned layer and a foot layer. Patterned layer composed of bacula arranged obliquely to the foot layer, branching and interconnecting to form a network.
