Diagnosis
Secondary xylem of the morphogenus Primoginkgoxylon SÜSS, RÖSSLER, BOPPRÉ & FISCHER with a juvenile wood structure of stem, growth layers indistinct, boundaries only marked of 2–4 radial flattened tracheids, in transverse section of various large tracheids directly lie side by side, tracheid diameter small, mostly circular, on average 50 μm in diameter, walls 5–10 μm thick, with helical thickenings, crystals occasionally present, bordered pits on radial walls abietoid, closely arranged on one row or on two to three rows, if in two or three rows alternately arranged, crystalidioblasts numerously, ca. 70/mm2, rays 1(–2) seriate, 1–14, mostly 2–8 cells high, cells roundish, on an average 30 μm high, in the cross-field 1–3 cupressoide pits, between tracheid walls and ray cells intercellular spaces.
