Diagnosis
Characteristics as for the genus.Main axes 2.8–5.2 mm wide; longest known are 11 cm. Angle of branching varies from 40° to 60°; distance between laterals 0.6–4.5 cm. Lateral branches 1.0–3.3 mm wide near main axes and less than 1.0 mm wide distally. Distal branches either sterile with recurved branchlets at angles up to 150° or fertile with branching angle about 40°–65°. Oval or nearly globose fertile structure 3.4–8.0 mm long and 2.1–6.8 mm wide distally, composed of four fertile units. Each fertile unit consists of an outer leaflike appendage 2.4–6.8 mm long and 1.6–3.4 mm wide and an inner elongate–oval sporangium 2.0–3.3 mm long and 1.5–2.0 mm wide. Fertile units subtended by short stalks 0.8–1.7 mm long and 1.0–1.5 mm wide. Epidermal cells of axes elongate with tapered end walls. Stomatal apparatus consists of two guard cells, each with adjacent subsidiary cell. Spores and anatomy unknown.
