- Diagnosis
- Flowers paired, with pairs arranged spirally on the inflorescence axis. Each pair subtended by three persistent bracts, the two lateral bracts being slightly longer than the central one. Each flower appearing sessile with a solitary superior ovary with a straight style and a clavate stigma. Each flower possessing three free, elongate hypogynous glands positioned adaxial to the ovary base. Perianth four partite, partially fused in the bud, later freely deciduous. Androecium with reniform pollen sacs, apparently fused to the perianth. Pollen grains biporate, crescent-shaped, slightly scabrate.
