- Diagnosis
- Leaves simple, stipulate, and hypostomatic; lamina often with three distinct lobes; petiolate. Primary venation suprabasally actinodromous to palinactinodromous; lateral primary veins stout, equal in thickness to medial primary vein. Secondary venation usually camptodromous toward base of lamina, craspedodromous elsewhere. Tertiary veins convex in axils of primary veins, percurrent to reticulate; higher-order veins orthogonal to highly orthogonal. Teeth predominately nerved by a secondary and accompanying higher order veins. Stomata or trichomes absent on the upper cuticle. Stomata are anomocytic, with each stoma consisting of a pair of oval guard cells. Unicellular trichome bases frequently present and abundant near veins or leaf margin. Trichome bases clustered and associated with multiple epidermal cells or isolated and associated with only one epidermal cell.
