Diagnosis
Inflorescence and vegetative morphology unknown. Flowers actinomorphic, hypogynous; petals and sepals 5. Flowers with both androecium and gynoecium, but probably functionally unisexual. Receptacle and pedicel with elongate unicellular hairs. Staminodes fasciculate and usually opposite petals. Filaments of uneven length, outer filaments shorter, and occasionally branched. Anthers opening by longitudinal slits filled with amorphous substance. Pollen found on stigmas tricolporate, reticulate. Gynoecium syncarpous, carpels 5. Stigma peltate, styles short, fused. Tissues of receptacle, sepals, and petals with secretory cavities/channels?. Ovary partitions with closely spaced ascending channels. Placentation axile, ovules anatropous, seeds with reticulate sculpture of the seed and raphe, arillate.
