- Diagnosis
- Wood diffuse-porous, with indistinct growth rings. Vessels small, solitary, numerous (20 to 40=mm2), rounded to slightly polygonal in transverse section; vessels with opposite often elongated pits, and with simple or scalariform perforation plates. Tracheids with large round bordered and ornate pits; libriform fibres abundantly pitted. No septate fibres (?). Apotracheal reticulate and sparse paratracheal vasicentric parenchyma. Heterogeneous ray tissue; short uni- or biseriate homocellular rays, with all square or upright cells; large multiseriate heterocellular rays, with procumbent ray cells and one row of square or upright marginal cells.
