Diagnosis
Wood diffuse-porous. Pores usually solitary, sometimes 2 or 3-4 in multiples and 31-57 per mm 2. Perforation plates simple. Intervessel pitting scalariform. Rays always multiseriate, heterogeneous, broad fusiform in outline in tangential section, often with margins consisting of upright cells. Multiseriate portions of rays consisting of upright and procumbent cells. Ray-vessel pits scalariform. Wood parenchyma apotracheal diffuse.
