- Composite inflorescence of a flexible axis bearing floral (fruiting) heads and buds at consecutive nodes, widely spaced. Partial inflorescence of a dichasial structure in bud, surrounded at base by a whorl of partly connate pendent hairy bracts. Floral primordia appearing as minute protuberances on dichasial axes. Mature heads sessile with synchronously developing densely imbricate flowers, about 25 per head. Flowers narrow ovate to fusiform, apically pointed or lacerate, lobes hairy.
