- Wood diffuse-porous. Growth rings indistinct.
Vessels solitary or in radial multiples of 2–3,
heavily tylosed; perforations simple; intervessel pits
alternate. Axial parenchyma aliform to confluent, forming
undulating interrupted bands. Rays 1–4 seriate, heterocellular,
composed of procumbent cells and 1–2
(rarely 3) marginal rows of upright cells, solitary
crystals present in marginal cells. Fibres non-septate.
