- Diagnosis
- Diffuse-porous wood. Vessels solitary and in radial multiples. Vessel
elements with alternate intervessel pits and simple perforations. Vessel-ray pits with
strongly reduced borders. Parenchyma very scanty. Fibers in alternating bands of
thin-walled parenchyma-like fibers and thick-walled “normal” fibers. Rays almost
exclusively uniseriate and composed of square to erect cells. Radial tubules present in
some of the rays. Crystals in chambered ray cells and fibers.
