- Diagnosis
- Wood ring porous. Pores moslty solitary, 16-21 per square mm in the early wood, or solitary and in cluster, 8-17 per square mm in the late wood. Vessel segments short less than 300m in length, with horizontal or slightly oblique end walls. Perforation plate simple; intervessel pittings alternately arranged circular or hexagonal; tyloses abundant; spiral thickenings present. Wood parenchyma vasicentric and surround vessels. Rays 1-17 cells wide; sheath cells on the peripheries of broad rays. Ray-vessel pits elliptical and arranged alternately.
