Diagnosis
Fruit cupulate. Cupule spiny, indehiscent, enclosing, and adnate to single nut; pedicellate. Nut ovoid to spherical, with apical protrusion. Fruit with two carpels separated by thin septum. Trichomes absent from locule. Ovules apical. Single seed at maturity; embryo large, straight, dicotyledonous.
