- Indistinct growth rings; vessels predominantly
solitary, more than 90% and sometimes in radial multiples
of 2, scalariform perforation plates with 48 (32 – 63) bars;
opposite to scalariform intervessel pits, vessel-ray parenchyma
pits opposite, some with reduced and some with distinct borders;
abundant apotracheal axial parenchyma; heterocellular
rays; nonseptate fi bers with minutely bordered pits; vertical
traumatic canals.
