- Flowers bisexual, actinomorphic, trimerous; perianth two series of three tepals, outer tepals smaller than inner tepals, abaxial surfaces pubescent, adaxial surfaces glabrous; hypanthium very short; androecium of three cycles of three stamens, filaments free, third cycle from outside bearing paired substipitate appendages, fourth (innermost) cycle of three staminodes; single carpel with superior ovary bearing single ovule, ovary densely covered with simple trichomes.
