- Diagnosis
- Semi-globose, monoporate pollen grains arranged in
obligate, calymmate, tetrahedral tetrads. Pores of individual monads
are situated on the distal side; they are relatively large and of circular
to elliptical outline. An ectopore in the sexine and a smaller endopore
in the nexine can be distinguished. An operculum may be present.
The sexine is supported by small, inconspicuous columellae. It is
thicker than the nexine and is characterized by a reticulate sculpture
in the equatorial area of individual monads. Towards the distal pole
this reticulation may grade into a finely reticulate or punctate pattern
around the pore.
