Diagnosis
Fruits capsular, five-valved, fruit dehiscence loculicidal-septifragal, leaves a central column, pericarpium thick, woody, with a persistent, leathery calyx. Calyx of five lobes of unequal length that are fused basally to a shallow cup. Seeds two per locule, anatropous.
