- Diagnosis
- Frond pinnate. Pinnules thick, entire-margined
with a rounded apex and a slightly decurrent base, variable in size and
shape, from auriculate to tongue-shaped. Rachis massive and straight.
Petiole naked. Veins arising from the rachis and entering the pinnule
in the basiscopic part, and then bifurcating up to four times. The
midvein decurrent. The lateral veins departing from the midvein and
meet the margin at steep, narrow angles and having a straight course
through the lamina. Pinnulesamphistomaticwith stomatal pores occurring
in intercostal areas. Stomata surrounded by 3–6 mostly papillate
subsidiary cells. Guard cells and stomatal pores deeply sunken. Papillae
of subsidiary cells overarching the stomatal pores.
