- Stem rhizomatous with pith and cortex heterogeneous, consisting of parenchymatous cells with uniformly distributed clusters of secretory cells. Stem with a dictyostele. Endodermis external. Leaf trace with double
protoxylem strands initially and endarch, and with tips inrolled, enclosed by phloem and half-circled by the endodermis at the abaxial side. More than three protoxylem strands distributed along the adaxial side of the xylem
strand except for the tips. Roots arising singly from the abaxial side of the stele and leaf traces and extending horizontally through the cortex.
