- Diagnosis
- Azonate, tetrahedral obligate spore tetrads, rarely obligate triads, with slightly to moderately thickened and fused curvaturae perfectae. Proximal face of each component spore in complete contact with all others. Ulcus present on exospore of each distal pole. Distal portion of spores commonly hemispherical. Spores double-layered; perispore and exospore each less than 1 gtm thick. Tetrad occasionally exhibits only exospore on distal hemisphere of each of its spores, with remnant perispore adhering along and across the line of contact between spores. Maximum tetrad dimension usually ranges from 45 jim to 73 gm (mean 57 + 3 gm, on the basis of 200 isotype specimens).
