- Diagnosis
- Tracheid pits are bordered, circular
or elliptical in outline, uni-biseriate, opposite. Horizontal
and tangential walls of ray parenchyma cells are pitted.
Cross-field pitting is piceoid. Helical thickenings
are distinct, regularly present in early and late wood on
the walls of both vertical and ray tracheids. The both
vertical and horizontal resin canals are normal and encircled
by thick-walled epithelial cells. The canal lumina
in horizontal resin canals is penta- or hexagonal in
outline; and epithelial cells are large, elliptical in outline
and longitudinal along the lumina.
