- Leaf ovate; apex acute; base truncate to slightly subcordate but always
decurrent where joining the petiole; margin with prominent sharp, narrow, somewhat irregularly placed teeth. Venation pinnate, simple or semicraspedodromous to brochidodromous; secondaries diverging at narrow angles, lower ones downcurved; loop-forming branches of the secondaries, where present, joining the superadjacent secondaries at an acute angle. Tertiaries originating from both sides of the secondaries at acute angles, thin, percurrent, exarcuate, recurved near the midrib; tertiaries usually interspersed with one or two subparallel, retroflexed quaternary veins; fourth and fifth order veins fine; fourth order weakly orthogonal, fifth random; a fimbrial vein present.
