- Plant with at least four orders of branching with successive branches produced irregularly in a helix, except for ultimate appendages, which are borne alternately to suboppositely in a single plane. Vegetative ultimate appendages flattened, two-dimensional, of the Sphenopteridium-type. Fertile appendages with isotomous divisions, bearing fusiform sporangia singly and terminally. Stele with several primary xylem segments each with protoxylem lacuna, metaxylem, and abundant radially aligned xylem with ray-like slits. Tracheids with both circular and scalariform bordered pits in uniseriate and biseriate arrangements.
