- Flowers, bisexual, variably bilaterally symmetrical, hypogynous, pedicellate; sepals 5, valvate, basally connate, with a dense adaxial indumentum of peltate multicellular trichomes; petals 5, free, alternating with sepals, with adaxial multicellular trichomes; stamens (7–) 8 (–10), unequal in length, tetrasporangiate, longitudinally dehiscent; staminodes (7–) 8 (–10), alternating with stamens, bilateral with short filaments, pillow-shaped, the surface with scattered open stomata; ovary superior, trilocular, style fluted and hollow, stigma threelobed, placentation axile, ovules numerous; loculicidal capsules.
