Diagnosis
Leaves amphistomatic. Topography of lower and upper surfaces of leaves is similar: stomata in distinct rows. Bands without stomata composed by narrow and wide elongate cells with straight anticlinal walls. Stomatal rows composed by wide elongate cells and isodiametric tetragonal and polygonal cells with straight anticlinal walls. Some of them bear poorly expressed verruculae or, more rarely, papillae on periclinal walls. Subsidiary stomatal cells are cutinized stronger than ordinary cells and they are supplied with marginal papillae closing stoma aperture.
