- A compound fructification consisting of a group or tuft of scales of two kinds, with an overall diameter of 15 mm terminating a pedicel c. 15 mm (or more) long and 1.3-1.7 mm diameter. Lanceolate acute scales 4.5 mm with no reproductive organs visible. Oblong to obovate spathulate scales c. 5.5-6.5 mm long, apex blunt to subacute and possibly indurated, a little above the middle marked with an arching or slightly irregular transverse ridge or fold, at which, in the more mature specimen, platyspermic winged orbicular seeds are attached. Four vascular strands are visible in the pedicels.
