Leaves large, lanceolate to ovate with acute tips, decurrent, spreading and widely separated. Amphistomatic, with persistent longitudinal stomatiferous bands separated by a few rows epidermal cells. Thick bundles of fibres in the leaf hypodermis. Stomata oriented parallel to the long axis of the leaf, but oblique and perpendicular stomata are present at the apex. Waxy plugs present in stomata on both leaf surfaces. Stomatal complex typically consists of four subsidiary cells surrounding guard cells with rounded apices. Walls of the epidermal cells straight.
