Diagnosis
Growth ring boundaries indistinct. Wood diffuseporous. Vessels mainly solitary or arranged in short radial multiples of 2 vessels. Perforation plates scalariform, with more than 40 bars. Intervessel pits scalariform to opposite. Vessel-ray parenchyma pits scalariform to opposite, with distinct borders. Fibers non-septate, with distinctly bordered pits. Rays 1-2 seriate. Biseriate rays with uniseriate margins up to seven cells tall, and central biseriate region up to five cells tall; rays often fused with adjacent ones (interconnected rays). Rays heterocellular, composed of procumbent central region and square/upright cells composing the margins. Ray frequency higher than twenty rays per mm.
