- Diagnosis
- Wood diffuse-porous. Vessels solitary and arranged in radial multiples of 2–3 and narrow. Perforation plates exclusively scalariform with 4–8 bars. Intervessel pits opposite, reticulate to scalariform. Vessel-ray parenchyma pits large, rounded, with 1–4 pits per cross-field. Fine helical thickenings present on the wall of some vessel element tails. Tyloses absent. Fibres non-septate with simple pits. Vasicentric tracheids present. Axial parenchyma diffuse apotracheal, and scanty paratracheal. Rays mostly 1–2 cells wide, triseriate rays rare. Oil or mucilage cells present.
