- Diagnosis
- Cones asymmetric with an uneven base; ovate in shape; 6 to 8 cm. long, 5 to 6 cm. wide; unopened; scales on the outer side 22 to 27 mm. long, 12 to 17 mm. wide at the apex, decreasing toward the base of the cone; umbos produced into rounded, asymmetrical knobs, decreasing in width, increasing in length and becoming more conical toward the base of the cone, and bearing evidence of having been terminated by prickles pointing obliquely upward; sci:i.les on the inner .side of cones small, poorly developed, quadrangular, and nearly flat; seeds not preserved.
