- Secondary xylem of the morphogenus Spiroplatanoxylon
gen. nov. with a wood structure
of branch, growth zones indistinct, diffuseporous,
120 vessels per mm2, proportion of
vessels on wood quantity ca. 62 % (entrée
rays), vessels mostly solitary, radial diameter
on an average of 95 μm, tangential diameter on
an average of 65 μm, walls with helical thickenings,
perforations scalariform, up to 36 bars,
fibres with small bordered pits, crystals in axial
parenchyma cells and chambered crystalliferous
cells present, rays very high and up to 13
cells wide, homogenous up to slightly heterogenous,
middle cells on an average of 42 μm
high.
