Originally published as a zoological taxon (Protozoa: Foraminifera: Astrorhizidae: subfam. "Titanorhizidae"), but later reconsidered as trace fossils (ichnofossils) and placed in the synonymy of the putative ichnofossil-genus Thalassinoides Ehrenb. (1844) of the distinct ichnofossil-family Crustolithidae Vialov (Sledy Zhiznedejat. Organ.: 69. 1966) and the distinct ichnofossil-order Crustolithida Vialov (Sledy Zhiznedejat. Organ.: 69. 1966) as trace fossils of higher Crustacea.
