- Diagnosis
- Infructescences are rounded, woody, 6 to 25 mm in diameter (excluding the style protrusions), with elongate peduncle up to 53 mm long. Infructescences are composed by>20 individual bilocular florets helically arranged around a central axis. The outer hypanthial tissues present a honeycomb-like appearance and are broad and relatively smooth between adjacent
fruits. Each floret has bilocular capsules, fused basally and free
distally. The individual fruit is cylindrical to spindle-shaped, and fruit
are tightly connected to one another with thin fruit walls. The
carpels are merged together basally along their ventral margins. The epidermal cells of the pericarp are rectangular with oblique end walls. The inner carpel wall exhibits elongate and rectangular cells. The cross-section showed a persistent inner carpel wall of palisade-like cells. Perianth is
lacking. The persistent styles are 3 to 13 mm long and extend basally
into triangular-shaped broad bases that expand to 3.2 mm wide
