Descr.
Specimens of Liriodendron tulipifera Linnaeus that Heer (1882) illustrated on Plate 23, Figs. 1 and 2 are modern leaves (two separate specimens), as is clearly expressed on Heer (1882, p. 89). Heer illustrated these modern examples for comparison with the fossil Liriodendron species in his monograph.
