- Diagnosis
- Frustules in valve view round, 6.5–26 um in diameter. Areolae on the valve face variable in their arrangement: isolated, as a ring near the margin, or absent. Most frustules short cylinders, straight or curved, 2.5–9.5 um in height, with robust ribs. The Ringleiste with circular opening, narrow or occluded about half the total width. Rimoportulae sessile, located on the Ringleiste.
