Since Gilibert’s Flora Lituanica inchoata (1781-1782) is currently listed in the Appendix VI “Opera utique oppressa” of the International Code of Nomenclature for algae, fungi, and plants, the earliest known binomen "Acer quinquelobum Gilib., Fl. Lit. Inch. 2: 198. 1782", which is treated as not validly published at the rank of species (ICN, Art. 34), did not affect no more the validity of the fossil species.
