Diagnosis
Twigs with helically arranged leaves. Leaves decurrent, narrow at base, dorsiventrally flattened, 21–50 mm long, 2–5 mm wide, 1.5 mm thick; apex acute. Pith of stems parenchymatous with scattered dark contents. Primary xylem endarch. Secondary xylem lacking resin canals; tracheids with non-contiguous, uniseriate, circular-bordered pits on radial walls; rays uniseriate, 1–10 cells high. Secondary phloem alternating bands of fibers and sieve cells. Leaf rhomboidal in transverse section; vascular strand single, centrally located, elongate band, 12–15 radial rows of tracheids wide and up to 7 tracheids thick; transfusion tissue in two wings on either side of vascular strand. Resin canals 1–5 per leaf; one large, central canal abaxial to vascular bundle, 0–4 smaller lateral resin canals. Palisade mesophyll inconspicuous; spongy mesophyll sometimes transversely elongated with scattered sclerenchyma fibers; hypodermis 1–4 cells thick, fibrous. Epidermis of rectangular cells; stomata sunken, predominantly adaxial, few abaxial.
