Originally considered as a dinosaurian reptile (Order Ornithopoda, family Hadrosauridae). Dollo (in Bulletin de la Société Belge de Géologie de Paléontologie & d'Hydrologie 2: 300-301. 1888 (Session of 31 October)) re-studied pieces in hand (without the microscopic preparations which he does not possess at this moment) and concluded that the fossils published as reptile bones by Smets are only pieces of silicified wood.
