Diagnosis
Wood diffuse porous. Growth rings indistinct or absent. Vessels small to large, tangential diameter 69–198 μm, radial diameter 107–313 μm, solitary to radial multiples of 2–4 (rarely up to 8 when in clusters), commonly tylosed, round to oval in shape, 7–9 per mm2; vessel members 132–452 μm in height and randomly storied; perforations simple; intervessel pits alternate, 5–10 μm in diameter. Axial parenchyma diffuse-in-aggregate, vasicentic and narrow lines up to three cells wide; parenchyma cells 52–112 μm in height. Rays short to long, closely spaced, 1–4 (rarely 5) seriate, up to 50 cells or 166–1541 μm in height and 15–80 μm in width, heterogeneous; procumbent cells 56–81 μm in radial length and 30–44 μm in tangential height; upright or square cells 25–41 μm in radial length and 29–57 μm in tangential height. Fibres thick walled, non septate and 13–20 μm wide.
