Diagnosis
Leaves linear, narrow; veins 2–5 per widest part. Often, stomata confined to marginal zones of the presumed adaxial leaf surface forming indistinct rows; stomata assembled in bands on the presumed abaxial leaf surface, oriented longitudinally. Cells of adaxial and abaxial epidermis elongate, rhombic, trapezoidal or fusiform to short, quadrangular or polygonal. Anticlinal cell walls straight, periclinal walls commonly with a cuticular ridge or several cuticular thickenings on both leaf surfaces. Subsidiary cells without papillae.
