Diagnosis
Gametophytes simple or monopodially branching. Leaves oblong or tongue–shaped, bordered, entire, spaced to recurved and arranged on stems in spiral order. Leaf bases sharply narrowed, slightly clasping. Leaf apices wide, obtuse, often with weakly cuspidate tip. Cell thin–walled, elongated and short–rectangular and isodiametric forming oblique rows. Sporophytes lateral. Capsules erect, shortly cylindrical, and sessile, on tops of short branches. Operculum conic and shortly rostrate.
