- Diagnosis
- Ferns with abaxially curved vascular systems in larger frond axes. Vascular system in some axes C-shaped in outline with prominent protoxylem groups on the adaxial face. Metaxylem elements of frond axes having vascular pitting consisting of numerous crowded elliptical to circular bordered pits with
elliptical apertures. Sporangia located in groups on lower surface of foliar regions of the frond. Sporangia annulate, the annulus consisting of two interdigitating rows of thick-walled cells on the distal face of the sporangium and extending proximaily along the sides of the sporangia for about 1/2 their length. Orientation of the annulus essentially horizontally oblique with respect to the major axis of symmetry of the sporangium. Sporangial wall one cell layer in thickness at maturity opening along a well marked zone of dehiscence. Dehiscence longitudinal along the upper and proximal faces of the sporangium in the median plane.
