- Stems with small branches, bearing very (and variably) approximate prominent microphyll cushions having elliptical microphyll scar without cicatricules. Microphyll cushions separated by vertical, sharp, undulate lines, providing an open connection between the succeeding cushion fields in
the vertical row. Scars rounded in the upper half, lower half consisting of two lateral sides meeting in a sharp point. Surface of older branches almost smooth or ornamented with undulating lines. Microphylls long, narrow, sharply pointed, with a distinct midrib. Ligule not observed.
