- Cones producing axillary fertile shoots with apical pair of short sporophylls; seeds nearly sessile, having 180 rotational symmetry, multiseriate integument, and short micropylar canal with radiating cells of inner epidermis; integument otherwise undifferentiated. Nucellus attached to integument to near midregion, free more distally, having large pollen chamber with uniseriate wall.
