- Flower oblate spheroidal, composed of an urceolate, externally ribbed floral cup surmounted by an apical bulge composed of up to 16 adpressed tepals that arise from the rim of the cup and which are arranged in at least two series; tepals ovate, infolded over floral cup, adaxially tomentose. Androecium arises from the inner rim of the floral cup and consists of up to at least 16 stamens arranged in two series. Stamens with columnar filaments surmounted by basifixed dithecal, bisporangiate anthers; filament bases tapering distally, densely tomentose abaxially; anthers valvate, dehiscence introrse, the single layered endothecium with U-type thickenings. Pollen disulcate, retitectate. Gynoecium of at least 40 carpels arranged over inner wall of hypanthium in 4–5 series. Carpels embedded within the hypanthium cup, but free at the stylar ends; elongate-ovate, laterally flattened, with a dorsal slit and a long eccentric style. Long unicellular, spirally thickened hairs arise from inner wall of hypanthium between the styles and between the styles and anthers, and along with the styles extend into the narrow mouth of the receptacle. Carpel wall differentiated into endocarp, mesocarp and exocarp, the dorsal slit delimited by laterally orientated elongate cells. Seed solitary, elongate, attached laterally in the basal half of the carpel, the long funicle extending to chalaza situated at the base of the seed in upper part of locule; micropyle directed towards base of locule. Seed coat three-layered consisting of an outermost layer of thick cuticle, a middle layer with polygonal, isodiametric transfer cells containing cubic and/or tetragonal-shaped crystals, and an innermost layer a thin cuticle with elongate cells.
