Diagnosis
Ovulate cordaitean cones consisting of shoots up to 5.5 mm long and 2.2 mm in diameter, with 60-70 spirally arranged scales. Basal scales distantly spaced, more distal scales compactly disposed. Distalmost 25-30 scales fertile, each bearing either a single terminal ovule or exhibiting a flared and raggedly concave tip. In cross section, sterile scales are oval or crescent-shaped and fertile scales are stellate. Axis with longitudinally disposed ribs; stele of radially aligned tracheids surrounding a pith proximally, becoming increasingly dissected and forming up to eight sympodia distally. Immature and abortive platyspermic ovules with prominent wings in the major plane; nucellus fused to integument at chalaza, free distally. Mature fertile scales elongated beyond the tips of vegetative scales. Primary axis and more mature ovules unknown.
